Check out the wonderful photos taken during Drue Kataoka's recent visit to Garfield (click here then go to 'At Our Schools'). Garfield students recently enjoyed a visit from Drue, a well-known Bay Area artist skilled in the sumi-e style of Japanese brush painting. The little girl with braided hair and a determined look in her 'Highway Hopscotch' has helped kids everywhere to talk about their reactions to Sept 11 and continuing international uncertainty.
'Highway Hopscotch' was commissioned by the Menlo Park Rotary Club who also supports a tutoring program at Garfield and the Annual Pancake Breakfast.
